Swollen Lymph Node in left side of the neck. Could this be a sign of Thyroid cancer? Please Help!?

I’m a 16 year old male, I’ve had swollen lymph nodes before but they were worse than they are now and they went away. Right now, my left lymph node is swollen. It doesn’t really hurt, but I can feel it’s swollen whenever I turn my neck or lay down in bed. As I said it doesn’t really hurt, but it’s bothering me and now I’m worried. I AM a Hypochondriac, I’ve self diagnosed myself before with HIV, prostate cancer, a brain tumor, etc.. I was tested for all of them, and all test came back negative. I am taking Zoloft, and it’s helping. But whenever spring/summer comes around my Hypochondria gets really bad for some reason. Now I worried about Thyroid cancer. Could one swollen lymph node be a sign of Thyroid cancer? Please Help!

Have you gotten the Vaccine for the Bubonic Plague? It is an ancient disease but it is still going around. Some of the symptoms are swollen lymph nodes, blacking of the limbs, vomiting of blood, etc. FYI it is a VERY deadly disease.

Hi ,I am Dr Prateek Nayak . I am an ENT Specialist , Bangalore ,India.
Neck swellings in adults need to be evaluated so whether you are hypochondriac or not a neck swelling in an adult needs to be evaluated. Visit an ENT specialist in your locality – who will examine the neck swelling- the exact site , size, mobility, consistency etc + evaluate your thyroid gland and your ENT doctor will look for any infective focus which may be responsible for small nodes.
The differential diagnoses will be inflammatory , benign or malignant pathology.
your doctor may order blood tests, advise an FNAC[ a needle puncture test of the node] or advise endoscopy and further imaging studies if the lymph node is clinically suspicious.
    All the best

Swollen lymph nodes could be a sign of thyroid cancer, but that’s usually a symptom along with a large lump/nodule in the front of your neck. You know you are a hypochondriac, so you are most likely perfectly fine! Try to think, have you had any illness or infection recently?? That would most likely be a reason for the swollen lymph node. Also, know that many people have “lumpy lymph nodes” which are not cancerous.
