Do I dare to post this among my friends at P&S? I have a friend who was recently diagnosed with a very?
agressive form of prostate cancer. It has been determined that it has moved into his lymph nodes. From my understanding, this is pretty much a death sentence. Does anyone know how long he might have? Where could I find more information on this kind of diagnosis?

Once the cancer reaches the lymph nodes its more difficult to slow down the progression. There is no definitive way to give a length of time. Attitude plays a huge role in things like this. My dad is a perfect example. He was diagnosed two years ago with throat cancer and given 6 months at best. He beat the odds however, his cancer has returned again (for the third time) and this time they are saying there isn’t much more they can do. He keeps on going though. He begins an experimental treatment next week. Check out WebMD for information on the different types of cancer.
My ex husband has testicular cancer that moved into his lymph nodes. This was four years ago and he’s still around. My brother in law has lymphoma and was given two years. It really depends on how far along the cancer is. Please know that it’s not a death sentence and to not give up- there are new forms of cemotherapy out that can help him, but it’s a very tiring procedure and things will get worse before they get better. Just try to be there for him and hope and pray for the best. I’ll be thinking about you.
Miracles happen everyday, a friend of mine was given 3 to 6 months, that was 3 years ago and she is now cancer free…..
well….it is never ever good when it spreads into the lymph system….they can try treating him with chemo and radiation but the odds of long term survival are not even on the radar screen…I’m sorry to hear this. just google prostate cancer and there will be all kinds of info…some accurate…some not so much. It will be a difficult road for him and his family so be there for support and to help him if he needs you….if the cancer is that aggressive it could be very quick as in a few months or treatment could prolong his life…but at the end of the day, it will probably not be years….good luck and I will say a prayer
I would google search the condition….I never think anything or condition is such a sentence..I know people who have overcome tremendous odds, because they had support and strength from loved ones….
Overall, 99% of men diagnosed with prostate cancer survive at least five years. Further, 92% survive at least 10 years, and 61% survive at least 15 years.
Ninety percent of all prostate cancers are found while they are still within the prostate or only in nearby areas. The five-year relative survival rate for these men is nearly 100%.
For the men whose cancer has already spread to distant parts of the body when it is found, 34% will survive at least five years.

I’m very sorry about your friend. It’s gonna depend a lot on how far the cancer has progressed already. Unfortunately, the prognosis for prostate cancer is not good unless it is caught in the early stages. But take heart my friend, new treatments and procedures are being developed as we speak. Besides, only God knows when our time has come. God may not yet be ready for your friend. I will include your friend in my prayers.
Oh hon…I am sorry about the news. I do think that kind of cancer is really invasive…

am so sorry, there are very good web sites you can go to, american cancer society-webmd.prayer helps so much and you being there will give him strength also
i don’t know about prostate cancer but i know w/ breast cancer it is not a good thing b/c cancer has to have a ‘road’ to travel to metastasize, and nodes is one, as well as touching organs or through blood vessels. only God can predict how long a person has to live, but i would recommend him asking his doctor for a prognosis.
